In the Clubhouse
Approved golf wear (set out above) is allowed anywhere in the clubhouse except the restaurant, providing it is dry and clean. The following is not allowed.
• Speciality crew neck shirts are not allowed in the bar or restaurant
• Shorts are not allowed in the bar or restaurant
• Golf shoes are not allowed in the bar or restaurant
• Waterproof or wind protection golf clothing are not allowed in the bar or restaurant
• Hats and caps are not allowed indoors
• Tailored leather jackets without studs are allowed in the clubhouse, blouson type leather jackets are not.
The Restaurant Dress Rules
The Board have decided that except where a more formal dress is required, smart casual dress may be worn at all times in the restaurant.

For the avoidance of all doubt, casual dress is not golf wear.

‘Smart Casual' in this instance implies tailored/formal shirts with tailored trousers. Polo shirts/chinos are not considered ‘smart casual' and tailored shirts are almost always shirts that have buttons all the way down the front.

Behaviour Standards

On the course members are expected to display the highest standards of golf course etiquette. The Board is pleased to confirm that there are very few complaints relating to etiquette but would never the less, like to re-affirm just some examples of good practice.

• Always repair pitch marks
• Always replace divots
• Always rake bunkers
• Always replace rake in a position where it will not trap a ball on a down slope at the front of the bunker
• Always lower the flag stick with hand, foot or club; never just drop it on the green
• Always, always, always avoid slow play
• Always use paths where provided
• Always keep buggies to the side of the fairway but out of the deep rough
• Always be safe, better to shout ‘fore' unnecessarily than not to shout at all

Conversely
• Never take trolleys or buggies inside the greenside bunker line or close to the greens
• Never practice on the course with more than two balls
• Never walk in front of partners who have yet to play their shot
• Never take buggies between the 18th green and the clubhouse
• Never play towards working Green Staff until they have acknowledged you and called you up

Remember
• Monday to Friday, two balls have priority regardless of whether you are keeping up with the match in front and must be let through
• Club matches always have priority
• The General Manager will instigate discipline procedures on members ignoring tee closures
• Changing shoes only in the car park is now allowed at Orsett
• Swearing, rowdy or confrontational behaviour is not acceptable
• Mobile phones must be switched off or in silent mode and only answered or used in the Clubhouse foyer or car park
• We all need to warm up, but don't take practice swings on the tee

Complaints
Lastly if you do have a ‘grouse' or a complaint about something, please do not ‘beef' about it in the bar or lobby a Board member. Go and see, or if necessary write to, the General Manager. The General Manager is entitled to the courtesy of having the first opportunity to explain or deal with the matter. Any other approach is bad manners.
